Community Outreach

Walk-a-Thon

Each year, the members of the Linn High School FCCLA Chapter come together to put on a Walk-a-Thon.  For an entire class period, the K-12 students of Linn High School along with community members come out the school's track to donate money and walk along to music.

Music & Memory

Music & Memory is a program in which students of Linn High School can volunteer time out of their school day to go to Linn Community Nursing Home and listen to music with an assigned resident there.  Each resident who participates has an iPod designated to them.  The resident's iPod includes music of their choice or music that their family said that they enjoyed at an earlier time in their life.  The result of this program is incredible!  The music has the affect to bring the resident back to a time when they were younger (especially dementia residents)!  If a student's resident is not available, a student spends their time doing simple tasks like decorating within the nursing home. Music & Memory started with STAR Event in the 2015-2016 school year.  It has also been the recipient of the Walk-a-Thon from the falls of 2015 to 2017

Meadowlark hospice

The recipient of the 2018 Walk-a-Thon was Meadowlark Hospice.  The Linn Chapter FCCLA along with members of Linn High School and the community raised $350 for Meadowlark Hospice.

Blood Drives

FCCLA has done a number of blood drives with the American Red Cross.  Community members are able to come to Linn High School to donate blood.  FCCLA members help with registration, escorting donors, and feeding donors.  Some FCCLA members even give blood themselves.
